Charles L. McElroy
Enon Valley, Pa - Charles L. McElroy, 75, of Enon Road, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. McElroy was born Feb. 4, 1936 in Pittsburgh,a son of the late Eugene L. and A. Mabel Minor McElroy, and had resided in the Enon Valley area for most of his life.
He had been employed as a driver with area trucking companies, initially with Tesone Trucking, Gibsonia, and later with A.W. Bauman, Jr. Trucking, New Galilee, Pa., in 1955 and 1956. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army, where he had served with the 82nd Airborne Division, he returned to driving with Bauman's, and then Lee Way Motor Freight, until he opened his business, McElroy Auto Truck Repair in 1981.
He was a member of the Enon Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Jeanne M. Feezle, whom he married Dec. 17, 1958; a son, Charles R. (Sue) McElroy of Enon Valley; two daughters, Nancy J. (Daniel) Dunham of Darlington, and Laura L. May of Enon Valley; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He also leaves a three sisters, Elizabeth (Dave) Leone of Raleigh, N.C., Alice Marinelli of New Castle, and Helen Troskey of Enon Valley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward L. McElroy.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine, with his former pastor, the Rev. John Dickey, officiating. Burial will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, Pa Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, New Galilee. The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
