Cancer patients can get free wigs at Fremont hospital
FREMONT -- Memorial Hospital is teaming up with the American Cancer Society to distribute free wigs to female cancer patients. The wigs will be given out through Memorial Hospital's Volunteer Services Office between 8 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday by appointment only.
Assorted styles, sizes and colors of wigs will be available. Brands of wigs at the hospital include Paula Allen Wigs, Raquel Welch Wigs and others. Each shipment of wigs is different, but generally include real hair and synthetic hairpieces. Patients will be able to choose whichever available wig suits them best. In addition to the wig, patients will receive literature about local and national ACS resources.
At Look Good, Feel Better, a free program for women cancer patients, a trained cosmetologist will instruct participants how to style and care for their wigs. Women in the program also will receive a free makeup kit valued at $250.
