Amy K.: Edwards Campaign Website Review

The John Edwards website is automatically targeted towards potential supporters. If you enter the website or click a link to it, you are brought to a kind of advertisement. It’s a picture of Edwards and his family with big print next to it that says “ JOIN THE CAMPAIGN TO CHANGE AMERICA” that screen then can take you to the webpage or you have an option of entering an email address and submitting it by clicking a button that says Join the Campaign! I also think this website is geared towards potential supporters more than existing supporters because of how simple and organized Edwards’s stances on issues are. They are right out there, easy to see, easy to understand. If this were for existing supporters they would already know the basics of his issues and would search further into the website to further educate themselves on those issues. This website if really geared towards a younger voting population as well as middle class voters. I think this, primarily because of the simplistic of the webpage. I personally dislike how complicated the country seems to make elections. I’m not a layman, I will have two college degrees, but still sometimes I find canadates webpage’s and other support systems confusing and cluttered which distracts me from the real issues. Also younger voters, rather than the retirement age group voters will understand the links to facebook, flickr, MySpace, and YouTube towards the bottom right corner of the page. The John Edwards campaign website asks the visitor to take several actions. First to join his campaign, secondly to contribute finically to the campaign, these to actions are even numbered on the side of the website, very easy to notice. The website encourages the public to registrar to vote, as well as create a page for the grassroots fundraising. A viewer of this website is directed to links for purchasing things from the campaign store and other volunteering, like making calls from your cell phone. Overall I think very highly of the sites design, if you couldn’t already tell from the above review. Like I said before I think its very organized, straight to the point, easy to read and understand. I think its important that all those key points are present because it avoids confusions and focuses on the main point, which is finding a candidate that best represents your interests as close as possible!
