Kate Bush writing new album
The Running Up That Hill singer has, however, just brought out The Director’s Cut, which is an album of re-recorded tracks from 1993 release The Red Shoes and 1989 record The Sensual World.
But Kate is eager to get some new material out there, saying that she is “working on a new record”, although right now “it’s all kinds of bits and pieces, really”.
While suggesting that her way of working is “quite an elusive process”, she “always has ideas buzzing around” in her head, but doesn’t know if they will “actually end up materialising into a song”.
With just eight albums of new material, as well as a live record, a compilation and the recently-released The Director’s Cut, spanning her 33-year career, Kate has become well known for her leisurely approach to recording.
However, the 52-year-old – who hit the big time back in 1978 with massive No.1 hit Wuthering Heights – has denied reports that she is set to tour for just a second time, following her 1979 Tour of Life that was made up of 28 dates.
She said that, although “people always presume I didn’t enjoy that tour”, the fact is she “did enjoy it”.
But, while Kate is “extremely flattered that people are interested”, she hasn’t “got any plans to do any live shows whatsoever”. Instead, she is concentrating on “trying to make new material”.

The Very Best & Kate Bush- Running up That Hill
(Kanye West, Baaba Mal, LCD Soundsystem), The Very Best’s take on Kate Bush's “Running Up That Hill” is the most compelling. Kate Bush’s influence on recent dark art pop cannot be overstated (see artists like Austra and Bat For Lashes ), but The Very Best are about as far removed from these en vogue Bush disciples as could be. Even so, the collaboration of Malawi pop and dark chanteuse vocals come together in a way that sounds wholly of the moment. The Very Best have the advantage of starting with a classic—but the fact that they're able to add their own celebratory rhythm without taking away from the original's emotional intensity is quite a feat.
