Cranberry's New Pino Gelato Café Scoops Out Italian Flavors

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 01, 2011 – The first Pino Gelato store in Butler County opens tomorrow bringing genuine Italian gelato recipes and a unique café experience to the Oak Tree Place shopping center located on Rt. 19 near the turnpike interchange in Cranberry Township. The shop offers 24 flavors of gelato and sorbetto (sorbet) on a menu that will change daily.

The owners, Ron and Kim Kachman, selected Cranberry for their first of several potential stores because it is one of the fastest growing communities in the Pittsburgh metropolitan region.

“We discovered Pino Gelato, which is headquartered in Hilton Head, when we vacationed there,” said Kim. “We love the gelato and the family atmosphere and we decided to replicate that experience here through a licensing arrangement.”

“We see this as our ‘pioneer store’ and we’re hopeful that success here will lead to future locations in Butler and Westmoreland counties,” said Ron. “Cranberry Township is a growing community and we are excited to be here.”

A ceremonial ribbon-cutting will be held later, on June 17 at 4 pm. Participating with Ron and Kim will be Ramona Fantini and John Jacobs from Pino Gelato’s South Carolina headquarters and members of Cranberry’s Chamber of Commerce.

Gelato, meaning “ice cream” in Italian, is essentially made with milk. Pino Gelato’s authentic recipes use the freshest ingredients with no artificial flavorings or added chemicals. While rich and full of distinct flavor, the gelato is much lower in fat, cholesterol and calories than traditional American ice cream.

Gelato flavors range from classic vanilla and chocolate to unique blends such as coffee, cookies and cream, hazelnut, green tea, mixed berry, cherry, peanut butter, pistachio, tiramisu, dulce de leche, coconut, Reese’s and cream, chocolate whiskey, strawberry, mocha, caramel custard, blueberry and several more.

Sorbetto comes in fruity flavors such as blood orange, lemon, limoncello and mango to name a few. Specialties include freshly roasted coffees from Pittsburgh-based LaPrima Espresso Co., and tea, pastries and sandwiches served in a unique bread cone as featured on the Food Network.

Cranberry’s growth is illustrated by the recent move to the area by Mine Safety Appliance Co., hiring by Westinghouse Electric Co., growth at BPL Global, Ltd.
