Fashion parade stops the traffic at Wootton Bassett
Stylish students from Wootton Bassett School stopped the traffic when they arrived for their school prom.
It looked like a top-class fashion parade as the young guests stepped out of a colourful array of vehicles that included a Ferrari, stretch limousines, military machines and a fire engine at the Hilton Hotel in Swindon.
The cavalcade caused tailbacks towards the M4 at junction 16.
Student manager Anne Sanders organised the event with the help of representatives elected from the eight year 11 tutor groups.
Mrs Sanders, who has been at the school for six years, said: “At the beginning of the year I could choose to run the year book or the prom, and I chose the prom because I have been to previous proms and they are very good.
“Everybody looked lovely. There were some beautiful dresses and some had spent £300 to £400.”
About 230 students attended the prom, which included a three-course meal, professional photographer and a disco.
“The children arrived in some wonderful vehicles and started the evening with a cocktail fruit punch.
“It was very difficult to say goodbye to some of them,” said Mrs Sanders.
